Today we held a seminar for parents of teenagers at our church. Enthusiasm and turnout were amazing. Response was great. All in all, a very successful day. But that's not why I'm writing about it. I was up front speaking into a microphone and trying to give away a book. I decided to give the book away to the first parent who could hold up a picture of their kid. A lady towards the back held her pic up first, so I made my way to her and handed her the book. As I began to walk back to the stage, I said, "Wait a minute! Let me see your kid!" So she showed me the pic, I quickly glanced at it and started walking back up to the stage when I said, "You have a very beautiful daughter." Editor's Note: Do you see where this is going? That's when she said, "It's my son." Needless to say, I was embarassed. So Brian says, "Well, we have an opening for a Middle School Pastor." And I stood in front of the crowd of parents and turned red for about 3 1/2 minutes. Everyone had a good laugh. Editor's Note: Except for the mom. I'm glad my embarrassment can bring people together...
