Important Thoughts #4...

I am not ashamed to admit that I listen to Michael W. Smith. In fact, I don't just listen to his music, I greatly enjoy it. Editor's Note: Some of you might find this information to be proof that I am lame. To you, I say, "I'm rubber and you're glue! Boing-fwip!" One of his songs came up while my iPod was on shuffle the other day, and I was struck by the depth of one of his lyrics.

This is from the song All In the Serve:
Never gave you nothin’
People couldn’t explain away
Never gave you nothin’
Without something to gain

So, it made me wonder, when was the last time that I gave God something and expected nothing in return. I mean, I say I do this all the time. But I wonder if, subconsciously, I'm really thinking "If I give this to God, He'll bless me even more!" Thereby taking my offering, and tainting it with foul motive. Does anyone else understand what I'm talking about...
