"So you stopped talking because of Friedrich Nietzsche? Far out."
I had to fly home to South Carolina today for some family stuff (more on that later this week), and since I was flying United, I figured I would need to bring somethings to occupy my mind. Editor's Note: I knew this because of all of the trouble I had getting home during Christmas. So, in keeping with my goal of watching all of the oscar nominated movies before the ceremony, I decided to rent some movies for the flight home. Editor's Note: Good thing too. I got stuck in Chicago for an extra hour and a half when the captain for my flight didn't show. There was a plane, a co-pilot, and a flight-attendant. But no pilot. So I decided to start with Little Miss Sunshine.
Little Miss Sunshine
Running Time: 1 hr 41 mins.
Directed By: Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris
Starring: Steve Carell, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Alan Arkin, Paul Dano
This movie is absolutely Uh-mazing. I can definitely see why it's nominated for best picture and has swept the awards show circuit so far. Abigail Breslin is adorable. Steve Carell is great in his restraint. Greg Kinnear is the best person alive to play his part. Paul Dano is great as the Proust reading test-pilot wannabe brother. I love the family dynamic that the cast has here. It's not always perfect or even healthy, but it is real. Oh my gosh! And I forgot to mention that Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe from 24) has a small part!
And so, to Little Miss Sunshine, I give the honor of being awarded a certified 4 Yarmulke™ rating.
Such a great flick! You should do everything you can to see it and soon...
