One of the speakers at this year's Willow Leadership Summit was Marcus Buckingham. He's written a couple of different books, like Now Discover Your Strengths, on maximizing your strengths to improve your productivity.
At the Summit, he layed a challenge out before us. In an effort to help us identify what activities energize and drain us, he asked that we simply record them. Everytime you do something that you love or that pumps you up, record that in one column. Everytime you do something that drains you or frustrates you, record that in another column. At the end of the week, look at your list and search for patterns or clues to what your strengths may be. Then, begin to shift your energies behind those things.
So, starting tomorrow, for one week I'll be recording these things. Hopefully, it'll help me to begin to shift my work habits around my strengths.
