Wow...they're real Watt Watchers in Seal Beach!
They had this in every hotel I went to over the last two years in Europe. Duel reasons I am told. First off--saves LOTS of energy...when you leave, the lights all go off. Secondly--a lot less lost keys.:)
yeah, all the hotels in europe have this. it's to make sure lights don't stay on, as people tend to leave hotel lights on, even if they would turn them off at home. though -- it's normally not a 2nd key, but just your room key, so you HAVE to take it when you leave, which means the lights WILL shut off.
of course, if you travel to such a hotel in europe with other people, one of you can leave behind the key in the powerslot, thus thwarting worthy attempts to save energy and the planet. not that anyone would do such a thing...
