Important Thoughts #9...

I've racked my brain for inspiration to write all day today. But, my mind remained a blank canvas. So, instead of trying to conceive some new thought to write about, I decided that I'd reflect some more on something that's been bouncing around inside my head for a little over a week.

The last important thought that I posted was from Donald Miller. In thinking about that thought, I was reminded of another from the same book. In fact, it's been so powerful in my mind lately that I had to look it up tonight and re-read it. Here it is...

Our "behavior" will not be changed long with self-discipline, but fall in love and a human will accomplish what he never thought possible. The laziest of men will swim the English channel to win his woman. ...by accepting God's love for us, we fall in love with Him, and only then do we have the fuel we need to obey.

Recently, a great friend of mine questioned what I was spending the majority of my time thinking about. After thinking about it for about three seconds, I had to concede his point.

I've done some pretty crazy things (most of the time while claiming to have "thought a long time about it") for the sake of trying to impress a girl. Editor's Note: Seriously, I could tell you some stories... I've blindly tossed aside things like my inhibitions, fears, pride, and logic all for the chance at winning her favor. And yet, in times of uncertainty (when I should, first and foremost, turn to God) I want to dip my big toe into the pool to test the water before I even think about jumping in.

Every now and then, I wonder whether or not I've fallen in love with God. I wonder if I would cast everything aside, and risk looking like a fool, all for the chance to win His favor. I sure hope so. And if not, It would seem I've got a lot of praying to do...

BRILLIANT writing Josh. Seems many of us bloggers are in a funk lately about what God's plan is for us. We know he HAS one (Jeremiah 29:11) and we are TOTALLY ready for it!
In the mean time we sit and read and think and wonder and ponder and hope and dream.
Hey, wait. Maybe THAT'S the plan right now. Maybe THIS is what He wants for us right now. THIS IS THE PLAN!
And in the mean time we WRITE! Cause we are good at that! We think and we write and we learn and we grow. THAT might just be the plan, for now.
The KEY (and the dang hard part unfortunately) is to be able to ENJOY this part too. Wallow in it a bit...it's all part of the plan.
Thinking of you, Josh!
