The League of Men...

Usually, I'm not a fan of elitism. I believe that it divides men, forces them into a caste system, and generally causes only sad faced emoticons. But, there are times when being part of the elite causes you to rise above who you are and forces you to become who you were meant to be.

For the past two years I have been a part of just such an organization: The League of Men™.

The LoM™ is the finest fantasy football league that the internet has ever seen. You might be asking yourself what sets it apart from other, more amateur, leagues. One word: heart.

I participated in my first fantasy season in 2003. For the next three years, there were always multiple people in our league who would fail to put in the minimum required effort (100%) to make their team tolerably competitive. In 2005, in what can only be described as a moment of inspiration, two men decided that they had had enough, and struck out on their own. They dared to dream of something great; something... bigger than themselves. These two men (Mr. Jonathan Witt and Mr. Kyle Ruttenbar) created the LoM™ and went on to become its "Double Commish".

I am proud to say that despite what some considered a less than stellar draft, my team, the Southern Gentlemen, went on to be crowned the inaugural champion of the LoM™. Not only did this make me the most elite of the elite, but it netted me the amazing garment that you see in the above picture. My name is imprinted on the sleeve, as is the year that I won.

In a sad turn of events, I had to relinquish the jacket today. I gave it back to Jonathan to prepare it for next year's champion, which just happens to be him.

My name is Josh, and I am a champion of men. Use your envy to propel you forward into greatness...
