I Heart Exploring...

I love exploring the wilderness...

Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm at the level of Lewis and Clark or anything. In fact, I'm pretty sure everywhere I've ever been has already been discovered. But I love being in the woods or jungle and just walking around, seeing what's to be seen.

A while ago, I was asked by a friend to help him film a video involving sending a mannequin in a kayak down a river. (Awesome. I know.) This required me to walk alongside the river for a good 50 or 60 yards to find where the start of the scene would be taking place. I was amazed at all of the vines, rocks, nooks, and crannies I found. I was also amazed at my reflexes when I narrowly avoided stepping on this little guy...

I think it's a salamander. But I'm not exactly sure.

But, then again, that's not the point of exploring. The point is to see what you can see.

And I really love doing that...

That's an Eastern Five-lined skink (a type of lizard). They're born black with colorful lines running lengthwise on their backs. When they get to be adults, as this one is, the lines fade. They're also REALLY fast.
